SUNDERLAND, England - Sunderland has hired a new sporting director to work alongside manager Gus Poyet at the relegation-threatened Premier League team. Lee Congerton, a 40-year-old Welshman, joins Sunderland from German club Hamburg, where he worked as technical director.
